Thanks for your update @Retro

Scary, because how would NATO know that that missle is not an intact nuclear warhead?

Well, quite. I just hope that there are enough checks and balances to stop him launching one.

This is one for the Putin blooper reel. Long may this continue! :ROFLMAO:

Vladimir Putin was left incandescent with rage after his army wiped out their own soldiers in yet another friendly-fire fiasco.

--------

Not only have Russians died at the hands of their enemy, but now it appears they are also being killed on an increasingly regular basis by their own side.
Throughout the almost 10-month war, numerous reports have emerged of so-called friendly fire incidents by the Russians.
In the latest case, 14 soldiers from the 1st Army Corps were killed when their tent was shelled by a Russian artillery unit towards the end of November.

War is hell...those soldiers never saw this coming their way....I can see why more Russians want to escape their service.

Putin escalates his message on his Russian missile and hypersonic capabilities.

I didn't know that the Arctic had been polluted by Russia with military installations. Now Russia are modernising them which will surely make Russia an even bigger threat to world peace.

The article has before and after pictures comparable with movable sliders. Check them out.

Good video; nice having the sliders to really look at the new changes from one satellite image to another.

It is rather unsettling that Russia has so much dominance in the northern hemisphere of the Arctic.

America is often demonised for allegedly causing conflicts, and for sure isn't perfect, but just look at the massive help that they continue giving to Ukraine, who would have long been dead in the water without them. Let's keep these things in mind when criticising them with anti-American sentiment.

A big shout out to our American friends @Tiffany, @wolfdeer and anyone I've missed. You guys rock.

Joe Biden and the US Congress spent more than $100bn for military aid for Kyiv, a windfall for the US arms makers who were called on to stock up Zelensky’s arsenal, but probably essential to his survival.

So, Putin wants to "end the war" now, does he? The one he started without provocation? How nice of him.

"Our goal is not to spin the flywheel of military conflict, but, on the contrary, to end this war," Putin said. "We will strive for an end to this, and the sooner the better, of course."

Well, just fuck off out of Ukraine and then turn yourself in to the Urkraine authorities to account for the ghastly war crimes you've committed and we'll believe you.

That's not the end he wants. He wants the end of the war to be Ukraine's 'liberation' from its Western follies and again be part of glorious Russia. Glory to Arstotzka Russia.

My husband and I were talking about the Ukrainian suffering because of the cold and their power outages as we were facing possible power loss because of our winter blizzard. I can't even imagine a substantial loss in power during the extreme long winters. Makes me incredibly sad for these people and what they are enduring.

I do love the irony of Russia complaining about Ukraine bombing targets well inside its own territory when Russia has been using those targets to launch repeated attacks all over Ukraine and commit countless atrocities there.

Have a read and see which scenario you think is most likely. Personally, I believe an all-out war with the West is quite probable. After all, America is effectively already fighting it through Ukraine. Since this and sanctions aren't stopping Putin in his tracks, I believe that it could easily escalate next year.

Whether Putin would actually use his beloved nukes remains to be seen, since he surely knows he'll be obliterated if he does and a worldwide hellscape created.

There's another way to look at this: so many varied opinions suggests that no one has a clue, otherwise they'd be converging to at least some extent.

The conflict in Ukraine is about to enter its second calendar year. We asked several military analysts how they think events on the ground will unfold in 2023.

Could it conclude in the coming year and how - on the battlefield or at the negotiating table? Or might it grind on to 2024?

There's no win in this. The best solution for both is pause the fighting and negotiate a treaty of peace, but then you would have to have heads of state that are willing to end this.

It would involve Ukraine conceding land and sovereignty, which they quite rightly won't. Putin must be forced to a standstill, so he literally can't fight anymore. Just imagine his impotent rage if that were to happen!

And it's clear Putin won't back down over this until Ukraine is part of glorious Union of Socialist Soviet Republics. Or he's been fought to such a standstill that even he has to accept defeat.

We're at the point where they're going to draft in instrumentalists like it's a medieval battlefield. What next, standard-bearers?

Russian President Vladimir Putin should go on trial in Ukraine this year for war crimes committed there, says the man who led the prosecution of former Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic.

Sir Geoffrey Nice told the BBC Mr Putin was a "guilty man" for attacks on civilian targets during the war.

And just how is the West gonna put him on trial? They gotta catch him first. Last time I looked, this psycho was still bombing the hell out of Ukraine.

It's just pretty impossible to orchestrate a trial....there doesn't seem to be a good solution except negotiating a truce and I keep saying that but then both parties have to bend a little to stop this tragic war.

Negotiating a truce in practice would mean making concessions to Russia in the form of Ukrainian territory and that's unacceptable. The only solution is to force Putin's war to a halt. I believe that the West should be more aggressive with him and call it what it is, world war three.

While there has been some ramping up, it's not enough as Putin just keeps regenerating his war machine with more soldiers and more weapons, with sanctions not having enough effect. Ukraine needs to strike deep into Russian territory and take out the supply chains at their source. If they can take out Putin while they're at it, so much the better and the war may finally end then.

Now, I don't like saying this next part, but it's necessary for the Ukrainian counteroffensive to be fully effective: they need to kill as many soldiers and generals as possible. Decimate the Russian war machine since if they don't then those same Russians will continue killing Ukrainians. I don't care how much some of them are being forced into it by Putin, since in the end, they'll murder Ukrainians in order to save their own skins. If a Russian soldier is coming to kill you, then the reason why becomes irrelevant.

To add, the West also needs to be on the same page .....at least in the US....the initial response at the beginning of the war versus the needed "now" response needs to be recognized.

Looks like the world's most hated warmonger is looking to escalate the war by dragging Belarus into it. Mind you, by allowing Russia to use its borders to attack Ukraine, I'd say Belarus was already involved in this war, just like the West is by providing military aid to Ukraine.

A stunning reveal, though, like you said, it's pretty much been in front of us all along, with Russia occupying troops and equipment on the northern border of Ukraine, at Belarus from the onset of this war.
