I never expected to see an odd headline like this. I think he's still alive, or the war would likely end.

Saw this news this morning.....the propaganda change of Russia's War has transitioned from freeing their western neighbors from Nazism to now fighting Ukaine caused by NATO, US and the UK.

Concern if this news is true that Russia is mobilizing inward from three directions to Ukraine.

It does sound like a third front is possible to open up, but I actually can't see it going very well for Russia. Ukraine can clearly see via intel that they are building up in the North and the offensive went poorly when Ukraine was not ready. I feel like this is a desperate move from Russia to try and win major ground before NATO starts supplying heavier weapons and getting a more advanced anti-air setup. Although we have no idea how or what Russia will do, history does not favor brand new recruits flooding into a war from a massively expected and preplanned direction.

Ukraine might be holding their own, but what's really needed is to give them what they've been asking for for ages: rockets that can reach deep inside Russia where the Russian rockets are being launched and stop them at source, which will help stop this atrocious war. If not, then Russia will just keep sending more, endlessly.

Also, if Putin really is dead and yet the war continues, then this is an even worse situation.

We can thank Putin's poxy war for this one.

Very pessimistic. Schultz' order for tanks to go to Ukraine has succeeded, and it seems as though he was coaxing the Americans to also send their better tanks (Abrams) over too.

I completely agree with you on Ukraine needing to strike into Russia to end the war, but the question remains on how Putin would handle a conventional attack inside of Russia.

Yes, I think this is why the West hasn't enabled Ukraine to strike back in this way as it might literally spark WW3, complete with nukes striking the UK, US and other countries, obliterating a lot of areas and causing worldwide death and hardship. As usual, if this cancer had simply been dealt with at the beginning, then we wouldn't have such a massive problem now.

The issue is, going at the problem by halves also doesn't fix it, as Russia will just keep regenerating their fucking war machine. Perhaps they'll just run out of civilians to conscript into their army and it will stop that way? Who knows.

I don't think people really get how serious war is. *NZ'ers excluded; extremely talented and smart people here; you all get it.

This video is terrifying......

Not sure Putin has much restraint left.

I tend to agree. He's quite the megalomaniac who doesn't care about the consequences to him or anyone else.

As I've said for a long time now, with him it's a case of if he loses, then he's gonna make sure that everyone else does too, which can be achieved with nukes. He's threatened them enough times now, making this very point.

It's behind a paywall unfortunately. Hope those old weapons are up to the task.

Birthday gift idea for preppers:

More realistically:

What should you have in your survival kit?

It's suggested you go out and buy as many of these items as quickly as possible:
  • Water filters
  • Gas masks
  • Iodine
  • Canned goods (stews, fruit, tuna, meats, etc)
  • Ready-to-eat foods (granola, cheese, protein bars, etc)
  • Medical kits
  • Peanut butter
  • Assorted drink mixes, if you have children with you
  • Multi-vitamins
  • Iodine solution, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, painkillers
  • Dried milk
  • Largest bags of rice, beans, flour, oats, sugar and honey
  • Gallons of cooking oil
  • Baking powder & baking soda & spice assortment pack
  • A manual can opener
  • Kitchen matches and disposable lighters
  • Sanitary napkins and diapers, if needed
  • Flashlights (ideally LED) and portable radios, if you don't already have them
  • Plenty more batteries, at least three sets, for each of the above
  • Bottled water (especially if home supplies are not secured yet)
  • Baby wipes
  • Bleach
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Paper or plastic plates/cups/utensils
  • Cheap plastic hooded rain poncho

Many countries in the world (including the U.S. and Finland), already advise people to prepare to survive for three days without help from authorities. For those who want to make a modest investment in preparedness, here are our top tips for the everyday family prepper:

  1. A “basics” kit kept somewhere accessible. It should include a couple of flashlights and spare batteries, a wind-up radio (governments still plan to broadcast on radio in an emergency), hand sanitizer, a pack of face masks, a charged battery pack for devices, foil blankets for emergency warmth, baby wipes in case the shower is out of action, a basic first aid kit that hasn’t been raided and a supply of any essential medication. And don’t forget your pets!

  2. You certainly don’t need an underground store, but having a few days’ supply of nutritious food items that don’t require cooking (baked beans, soups, cereal, etc.,) would likely be helpful in the event of a major crisis. Some ultra-high temperature (UHT) and powdered milk would come in handy and some spare powdered baby milk too if you need that. I’d definitely add spare toilet paper to the list (for some reason this is what sold out first in pandemic panic buying.)

  3. Bottled water and a water filter. You can survive on not a huge amount of food for quite a while, but a lack of drinkable water becomes a problem pretty quickly. We keep a few large bottles of water tucked away, but also have a camping water filter that is effective in making safe pretty much any natural water source if we ever need it.

  4. We would never advise keeping dangerous stores of car fuel lying around in gas cans, but if you can keep your vehicle topped up with fuel or electricity rather than filling up from empty, you won’t run into immediate difficulties if the supply is suddenly interrupted for any reason. You can also use your car battery to tune into emergency radio channels — and to charge your cell phone. We keep a road atlas, a couple of blankets, long-life snacks and some bottled water in the car in case we ever get stuck on the move.

  5. Keep some cash tucked away in a place you will be able to find it in case of emergency. In a disaster, credit cards might not work.

"Putin...appears to be in control for now, but the Kremlin could be in for a surprise. Events often unfold in a dramatic fashion. As the war in Ukraine has shown, many things don’t go according to plan."

Getting all that stuff sounds like a real inconvenience. War's a real pain in the neck as well as all the other awful things.

The most important thing to me is to keep bottled water, which can help for any rare emergency like being snowed in while the water is out. My very small wine collection may be lifesaving one day :D

A senior military official in Russia heavily involved in funding Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine has reportedly plummeted 16 storeys to her death in St Petersburg.

Oh really? Yet another one? What's the chances of that happening randomly? There have been so many lately that if I were a cynic, I'd say that they were all being murdered, so good thing I'm not.

There's a huge rash of defenestratitis going around in Russia. I'm surprised we haven't heard more about it as they don't seem to have the outbreak under control.
