It's worth bearing this in mind in case you ever start to see this weirdness.

Cyber attackers will mostly attempt to gain control of a computer or mobile device in order to steal, for example by accessing bank accounts or taking out loans in a person’s name.

But what are the common signs that your computer or smartphone has been compromised? Some are obvious: a ransomware attack (similar to the one on M&S) will announce itself with a window demanding a ransom, usually payable in cryptocurrency.

But other signs are much more subtle, experts have told Yahoo News.

Good article with checkpoints to look for/evaluate on your devices to determine if you've been hacked. I've recently started using my old iPhone... *shock*. It doesn't keep a charge very well. Wondering??

Thing is, older iPhones tended not to hold their charge all that well when new and now that they're old and the batteries are knackered, they can be very bad indeed.

Thankfully, iPhones have the best security what with all those security updates that they keep getting, so one has to be pretty stupid with it to get it infected, really.

Problem is, a few days before the attack on M&S and CoOp I have no doubt customers were assured their data was safe, it is always safe until it isn't. Most people (me included) do not understand computer security enough and take what we are told much for granted, we are told it is encrypted, we are told data is safe. It is convenience versus safety. Annoying hoops to jump through to login or convenience and risk some security.

Personally I don't do financial transactions on my mobile, screen much too cluttered for my liking.

If M&S can get hacked could the military ever get hacked, of course we are told no but then no doubt M&S thought likewise. If the military ever got hacked we would never be told, the ransom might be giving away an island we own and paying billions for the privilege, who knows?
