There are so many tiny variables in a system that even small changes can lead to completely different outcomes. I think about this sort of thing a lot actually. In my job as a forklift operator, for example, when I move a load or navigate through tight spaces, even slight changes in how I drive (speed, turning, braking) can have grave consequences. Then there is the factor of conditions. Are the goods stacked correctly? Are the machines I work with in proper working order? Won't there be any colleagues stepping in my way? And there is the factor of how I deal with all of this psychologically, how well can I take all the constant stress? This in turn, naturally, also affects the course of things.
This outtake of Bill Burr is a good (and funny) example of how the slightest changes in the present can have the most impactful consequences in the future. It's pretty much how I came up with Forklift Fury.
