What is it with Steinski? This is the second catchy hip-hop track from him in a row! And I don't even like hip-hop normally, either. This one is from 1986 and is done in the same style as the previous one I posted in the early hours of this morning. It seems to be a satire about TV advertising and must be listened to with the video to fully appreciate it.

This first one is the official video broadcast on MTV. For the first 30 seconds, there's a preamble of some street kids being interviewed that adds nothing to it, so I've cut it out. You can just move the slider to the start if you want to see it.

Here's a fan made video of it that isn't bad.

This video shows the record label, so is here for reference. There's quite a lot of crackling and the sound quality isn't so good, so I wouldn't bother listening to it.

You know something, I wouldn't even call this hip-hop. It's samples with a beat! 😅
But I do like this sort of social commentary. You'll notice that most of the samples are from commercials/ads. If already in the 80s people got inspired to satirizing the amount of ads on tv, imagine showing an 80s person all the ads we have on our phones. But no one is even making protest art about it anymore because we have gotten so used to it.
It's good to see something like this, Retro. Reviewing 80s stuff is always trip, because people back then weren't even nearly desensitized as they are today.
