Gargantuan 1.6 petabyte CD being developed

Looks like the compact disc could be making a comeback as an archival medium, with a gargantuan 1.6 petabyte capacity. I'd love to put one of these CDs into a regular CD player and see how it chokes on it lol.

So, how big is a petabyte? A million gigabytes, or a thousand terabytes. For comparison, today's hard drives top out at around 24TB. In other words, 1.6PB is really, really, big.
