Further to the positive remarks regarding the Steven Spielberg movie, Duel, here is another 'Trucker' movie.

A 1957 black and white movie, special effects nowhere near comparable to Duel but great movie containing a host of stars but before they became famous.

Sean Connery has a 'bit' part but stars Stanley Baker, also has Patrick McGoohan, Alfie Bass, Herbert Lom, Peggy Cummins, Sid James, Willam Hartnell - who have I missed?

Well worth a watch and full movie on YouTube.

Great find, I'll definitely be watching this. Gotta see Sid James in a serious role, especially.

As far as alternative sources to watch it on, I can only find a standard def Sky channel that's showing it on Tuesday, so I'll be watching it on YouTube instead.

Here's the IMDB page for a full list of the actors and more.

Forgot Gordon Jackson and David McCallam. Patrick McGoohan well over acts in it. Some of the scenes are sped up to simulate speed but it was 1957 after all.

Ok, I've watched it and it was... a bit disappointing, but then it's a 50s movie so can't expect too much. Lots of incredibly reckless driving to meet quotas was funny and cringeworthy to watch though and the sped up film looked ridiculous. As you say Geffers, technical limitations of the day.

Was interesting to see all those famous faces in one movie though before they were famous and looked so much younger, too.

As we are on the subject of trucks here is an interesting very short video. I've not heard of this, a runaway diesel engine that cannot be turned off. Appreciate they don't need ignition to run so not 100% sure what turns a diesel off.

Another short 'truck' video.

See what a combination of torque, camber, hill and heavy load can do.

Nah, even here he wasn't that serious, still playing the rascally, prankster type. 😄 Great actor with a wicked sense of humour whom we lost too soon in 1976.
