Heard this catchy 2024 song for the first time today in the pub and had a real wtf moment at the hyper feminist refrain that goes "It's a woman's world and you're lucky to be living in it". Say whut?!
Listen:
Then I saw the official video and saw that it's a parody, a satire, even though I don't quite get it and that line now became comically funny:
Listen for the "feminine devine" bit in it, too. I mean, talk about laying it on thick!
Now, the tune is quite catchy and some enterprising soul even created an unofficial instrumental from it which is great to really hear the instrumantation clearly, undisturbed by vocals. However, I think it works better with the vocals in this case, but I do like the rich harmonic sound of this song in both versions. The channel bills itself as official Katy Perry Thailand, but it doesn't have the tick against it unlike the other channel with the previous two videos, so I'm skeptical.
This song seems to have a retro vibe to it, perhaps 80s or 90s, can't quite tell and I like it, but why is it so short?! 2:43 just isn't enough. @Hitcore your professional opinion on pinning down the era of that retro vibe is required for this one, as is a picture of at least one of your cats. Thankyou.
This song is unsurprisingly immensely popular with critics and Katy Perry fans alike, with this article reflecting people's general feeling about it, after much frantic Googling:

Why Katy Perry’s attempt at satire in ‘Women’s World’ missed the mark
Rather than offering authenticity and inviting her fans into her life, Katy Perry’s latest single reproduces and in fact exaggerates the same persona that fuelled her earlier success.

I must be this song's number one fan...
