I watched this 2024 film on Sky Cinema and liked it very much, more than I expected to in fact and that's why I'm writing this post. I think the film is much better than its current 5.7 IMDB rating, being an easy 8 in my opinion.

The original Garfield character, as invented in 1978 and featured in comics, a previous film and TV show is a sarcastic, wisecracking lazy slob of a cat. In this, he's been reinvented as a much more pleasant and innocent character with the film starting from when he's a stray kitten and is rescued by Jon. Very cutely drawn and in fact the whole film is one big cutefest which I really liked. It's unashamedly a feelgood childrens' movie, but one that can be enjoyed by children of all ages, even the really grown up ones like me!

The comedy is slapstick and cartoony in that Tom and Jerry way, like characters getting completely flattened by something heavy, but then popping back into their full 3D shape and carrying on like nothing had happened. The voice acting is good, too.

As usual, I'm not gonna say too much about it to avoid spoilers. I suggest reading the IMDB reviews after you've seen it as they do contain plenty of spoilers.

Recommended.

I haven't seen it. I'll look for it, thanks! My family likes movies like this too. We still gravitate to series/movies like Shaun the Sheep and many more. Sometimes you just need that break from reality movies or action killing movies and watch something gentle, and feel good like you mentioned was your experience.
