The monopolies of gaming

Today it was proven in court in Epic vs Google that Google has a monopoly on the google play store, recently following Sony being sued for artificially stacked pricing on the PlayStation store for the past 10 or so years.
What I'd like to add to this is I've been keenly aware of this topic for all the platforms, such as Steam and the Xbox store. It's unlikely to change for a while, though it's definitely a major aspect of today.

This is pretty much all digital storefronts:
-Game developers and publishers give backpay to stores
-Stores selectively hide indie and good games
-All media we receive lowers in quality because those get the bulk of the audience

Thanks Crims for posting a topic from this court case with Epic. I recently saw this in the news and hadn't had a chance to get back to it. Google has had a monopoly, it's time that this ends so other businesses can prosper and not be beholden to Google.

I love to see monopolies getting busted. 😁

This is a related subject that I just posted about today:
