Such a big facepalmer, I can't believe this obvious fact since the year dot that any small child knows needed any kind of court ruling, but there you are, now you know.

I'll leave it here, I can't take it anymore. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ:ROFLMAO:

Judges at the UK Supreme Court have unanimously ruled that a woman is defined by biological sex under equalities law.

It marks the culmination of a long-running legal battle which could have major implications for how sex-based rights apply across Scotland, England and Wales.

The court sided with campaign group For Women Scotland, which brought a case against the Scottish government arguing that sex-based protections should only apply to people that are born female.

Judge Lord Hodge said the ruling should not be seen as a triumph of one side over the other, and stressed that the law still gives protection against discrimination to transgender people.

UPDATE 18.04.25

Here's the consequences of this ruling:

Furthermore, what individuals are and what individuals identify with I've always kept those two separate. I respect the latter, but I recognize the former. I have a relative, for example, who is FtM trans, identifying as he/him. Sure, I'll play along, in direct interaction at least. However, that does not mean that I actually believe that my relative is a dude.

Retro, you could identify yourself as Nefertiti, Queen of the Egyptians for all I care. Sure, I'll call you "your majesty" or whatever, if that makes you feel better, I won't make a big political fueled fuss out of it. People get all militant too often over trivial* stuff anyway, it's definitely something I actively avoid these days. Generally I act nice about this sort of thing. Being nice goes a long way. But one can imagine that my brain wouldn't actually register you as what you say you are..... your highness. πŸ˜‰

*it also helps to know that I think most things are trivial. I'm a massive nihilist.

Hail King Retro! That has a nice ring to it, don't you think? :p :ROFLMAO:

Indeed, respect how people identify themselves as, but it's obvious what they really are and it's really impossible for them to change it.

I think I have an idea of where these gender disorders come from: when the baby starts to first form and grow in the womb, everyone is female, scientists know this. However, due to some process with hormones and lots of other stuff I don't know much about and that I'm not sure scientists completely understand either, some of them then get turned into males. If this process goes wrong, then people can end up identifying as the other gender. They literally can't help it and shouldn't be discriminated against for it.

With some individuals, yes. That also explains homosexuality for a part. And with some individuals I highly doubt it, and suspect that there may be other causes at hand, whether it be psychological, environment, or through abuse.
And sometimes it's possibly even a mix of all of these things. Like with many things, I think these matters are often kind of a grey area and to be taken from case to case rather than applying a one-size-fits-all explanation.

YES, your highness! Thou art King Retro, king of NerdZone! πŸ‘‘
(seriously though, it has a better ring to it than founder or head admin, and you have the power to actually change it to king!)

Yeah, I'm sure that the full set of reasons are much greyer than we imagine, but I do know that science doesn't completely understand why this happens.

Changing my siggy like that would be kinda funny, but I'd rather keep it as it is.
