Just push a handle, you don't even have to steer and pays great money, so what could be easier than that? But, there's rather more to it and places quite high demands on the driver as this article reveals. Have a read and see if you still want to do it, even with that great pay.

For me, having to start at 3am, work shifts and routinely work on my days off put me right off, as do several other things.

Few professions’ pay have aroused such incredulous ire as train drivers: earning an average of nearly £70,000 a year, going on strike to demand more, and they don’t even have to steer. But if it really is such a cushy number, why doesn’t Britain have enough drivers – and what does it take to join their ranks?

Same here. Starting at 3am I can live with, been there done that. But I am really a Monday to Friday guy. And working on my days off? Hell naw!

That being said, as a train nerd I can definitely see the charms of it, that includes all the rules and protocols. Safety first!
