Who We Are

This website is operated as a place for enthusiasts (see About) to come together online to discuss and share their “nerdy” hobbies, interests, ideas, write home page articles should they wish and more. However, people from all backgrounds and interests are equally welcome and every subject can be discussed, not just “nerdy” topics, in our General Discussion area.

If you have any questions about how we use your personal information or any requests relating to your information, you can send an email to privacy [at]

As the providers (herein referred to as "we", "us", "our") of the service provided by this web site ("Service") we are not responsible for any user-generated content and accounts. Content submitted express the views of their author only.

This Service is only available to users who are at least 16 years old. If you are younger than this, please do not register for this Service. If you register for this Service, you are stating that you are this age or older.

All content you submit, upload, or otherwise make available to the Service ("Content") may be reviewed and amended by staff members. All Content you submit, or upload may be sent to third-party verification services (including, but not limited to, spam prevention services). Do not submit any Content that you consider to be private, confidential, or for which you are not the legal intellectual property (IP) holder, except in the case of legitimate fair use or incorporation into a new artistic work.

You agree to not use the Service to submit or link to any Content which is defamatory, abusive, hateful, threatening, spam or spam-like, likely to offend, contains adult or objectionable content, contains personal information of others, risks copyright infringement, encourages unlawful activity, or otherwise violates any laws. If you are based in the UK, EU or EEA and interact with us, the processing of your personal data (or personal information) may fall under the General Data Protection Regulation. This depends on whether your personal data is processed in the context of us providing you services or monitoring your behaviour. All the information above is applicable to you as well. In addition:

Legal Bases And Purposes

We are the controller of the processing of personal data in relation to conducting our activity.

We process your personal data:

·        on the basis of your consent when you registered as a user of the Service and when our website places non-essential cookies on your device

·        on the basis of necessity to enter a contract or for the performance of a contract when you provide us information to register for participation in the Service we operate

·        on the basis of our legitimate interests:

·        when we obtain your contact details, we maintain them and contact you as one of our stakeholders; we’ve balanced your rights and our legitimate interest and we believe that the small amount of personal data we process, the type of data (your contact information and your affiliation), your probable expectation to be contacted in relation with your participation and registration for the Service, as well as the possibility you have to opt-out of this processing (through the deletion of your account) at any time, allow us to rely on our legitimate interests for this processing

·        communicate with the relevant representatives of our Members for the purpose of providing our Service; we can rely on this ground, since there is a clear expectation of the relevant representatives of our Members that they will be engaged in our activities and that we will communicate with them

Your Rights

You have the right to obtain access, rectification, erasure, restriction of personal data, portability of personal data and to object to the processing, under the conditions and restrictions laid out in Chapter III of the GDPR. You can also withdraw your consent at any time, when processing is based on consent, as described above. Just send us an e-mail to privacy [at] with any request you may have regarding these rights and the termination of your access and private data retention.

International Transfers

We transfer your personal data to the United States (‘US’) whenever you interact with us. The level of protection of your personal data is not deemed equivalent to the one in the EU, unless the receiving organization is self-certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield. As a not-for-profit private individual entity, we are not able or required to adhere to the EU-US Privacy Shield Principles. We transfer your personal data on the basis of the derogations in Article 49 GDPR, particularly: consent, for registration and access, along with certain processing in relation to the operation on a web-based discussion forum - such as collecting and storing images; necessity to enter and for the performance of a contract for registration information to participate in our Service; for obtaining the professional contact details and communicating with stakeholders for sending occasional updates and alerts or exchanging information. For this last derogation, we took into account that we only process personal data occasionally, mostly from publicly available sources, concerning a very limited number of data subjects, in a non-intrusive way and posing no risks to rights of individuals.

As for safeguards to your personal data, we directly apply the GDPR provisions to your personal data. As a matter of principle, we do not engage in any onward transfers regarding your data, beyond the access that our processors have to your data.
