Oh, that is really awful. Why am I not surprised that they're racists too? The holocaust was a long time ago now, but I've got Jewish friends who've had distant relatives that were murdered in those hellholes. I don't think they'd appreciate those idiot deniers.

I'll bet they think the moon landings were a hoax and 9/11 was an inside job. These things tend to go together as a package.

You’re exactly right. In fact I’ve even debated them about the moon landing.

Yeah, you can see it even like this.

Will you go for the full capture now even though it's labour intensive?

I wasn’t planning to, at least not until I have my telescope back.

This is generally a pretty inopportune time for me to do fancy projects and photography, but The Final Experiment motivated me to try anyway. Participating in a worldwide collaboration of getting simultaneous data with them in Antarctica was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

For general moon photography, the moon will still be there in another 6 or 12 months when I’m back on my feet. 🙂

I made a poster-style panorama of the 24-hr sun that they captured:
IMG_4914.webp

This is assembled from photography by Dave McKeegan:
I have highres versions in a Google Drive folder, up to 600dpi at 22inches wide (or 300dpi at 44in).

My hope is to print a copy and get Michael Toon, Will Duffy, and Dave McKeegan to autograph it ☺️

Visible in the photo from left to right:
  1. Lisbeth Acosta
  2. Austin Witsit
  3. Mark Hermon
  4. (ALE staff member, leaning against shelter)
  5. CriticalThink (in the cowboy hat)
  6. Michael Toon
  7. Jonathan Mariande
  8. Jeran Campanella (at the laptop “podium” thing)
  9. Will Duffy
  10. Dave McKeegan (crouching in foreground with camera)
The image of the people is from a moment during Will Duffy’s first on-ice livestream when Jeran Campanella came on and said "Sometimes, you are wrong in life ..."
