One can normally tell straight away when a cold caller is a scammer by the thick Indian accent, terrible grammar and a certain attitude. They may then start bullshitting about some fake offer, PC security issue, a refund, or other lie, all to steal your money. However, these scammers are now training up English people to do their scams, like in this example where a white English woman with a northern accent is doing one of them, so beware as the goal posts keep moving.
Jim Browning in the video asks if she's a scammer or a victim as the police, incredibly, aren't sure. Mind boggles, but this is why ethical hacker Jim Browning (yes, the same one from the BBC's Scam Interceptors) has been forced to blur her face, unfortunately.
I think these scams will become much harder to detect, especially for vulnerable people, when they can be fully AI driven with convincing robot voices and more convincing pitches. I'm pretty clued up on scams, but I'm never complacent, hence keep up with the latest scams and post about them here to help others, too.
