I love the humour* on this channel and the presentation is engaging even for this nearly non-drinker. The humour is even baked into the channel description:

The only channel where a world-wide community of whiskey lovers bask in the glory of unpretentious knowledge and top shelf shenanigans.

*The dodgy gags when they were shaking the bottles were hilarious.

I finally had a moment to watch. They're hysterical. :ROFLMAO:
They really are... but they are also very knowledgeable about bourbons. They have some fun stuff like these posts, then others where they do reviews of bourbons. The other guy that used to be involved with them was great, but since he runs a sommelier school and the distillery is done under a certain type license/tax code he had to leave.

I like genuine and authentic people and especially if they have unique skills, and take the time to share them with their own panache. It makes the world better and I love that they are Texan!

Last RV trip to Blanco I was planning on visiting their establishment. There are a lot of distilleries and wineries down in that area. Never got around to it as we spent a lot of time in the State Park enjoying the scenery and walking around Fredericksburg. One of my favorite stops was at Andalusia and I really wish their product would move up a little further north. I don't want to have to drive 1.5 hours to go get a bottle of their nectar.
Our next trip down to that area I do plan on swinging by. It will be a longer trip to them as we are planning on staying at South Llano River State Park this time as their skies are a little darker, as it should be since they are a recognized International Dark Sky park. It is a Bortle 2/3 zone. It is the green looking rectangle on the middle left.

Cool! I checked out Blanco county, Texas and the Andalusia distillery. I don't drink, but I was fascinated by the number of distilleries in Texas. I was also intrigued by your key word of "Dark sky and International Dark Sky park" and related it to your astronomy hobby. I took a look and found a website where I could look up my area in relation to the darker skies need for best astronomy pictures. Despite my city showing I was in the red, our skies are pretty open in this pseudo country area. I've always been able to see the stars pretty well and clear.

Here's the website I used:

Thanks for sharing something new and interesting!

A lot of people are surprised by how many distilleries and wineries we have in Texas. Honestly, the state has about every environment for growing that you can imagine in some part of it.... sometimes I think the East Texas area compares more to a humid jungle than pine woods.

To get to a Bortle 3 zone is about a 25 minute drive for me, but there are still several light domes around that can interfere if you get to near the horizon.
Texas has enough land mass that there are still several very dark areas, but the problem is being able/allowed to access them.

The Hill Country is really some neat areas. It's really pretty in spring when the wild flowers start blooming.
We caught it a few years ago when conditions were just right and the Indian paintbrushes and bluebonnets (state flower of Texas) were blooming.

East Texas is profoundly different terrain than the rest of the state....so close to Louisiana and East Texas really gets their share of storms too. Thanks for sharing your pictures; that field is amazing! Indian Paintbrushes are beautiful and of course the blue bonnet patches are exceptional for special photography.

Austin, San Marcos, and New Braunfels is the closest I've been to the Hill Country. I did see on the map how great your open dark skies are in the Hill Country. For those wandering what the Hill Country of Texas is, it's a reference to central Texas.

Those were just some I pulled to the side of the road to grab when we were hauling the RV into Blanco back.
I remember when it was like that all over Texas... of course, Ladybird was a big pusher of planting wildflowers along the Texas highways when while her husband was in office and after he left. In fact, there is the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at The University of Texas at Austin which is the state botanical garden and arboretum of Texas. She was really big into wildflowers.
Somewhere I have a photo of several acres of a plot that is nothing but bluebonnets. The landowner planted them just like people plant a regular crop. It was near the Lyndon B. Johnson Ranch.

Nice memories of the Texas landscape. I do remember there were a lot more bluebonnets on the side of the highways then there are now. I rarely see them and also the families that used to pull over for those special family pictures with their kids in the bluebonnets.

I didn't know the history of Lady Bird Johnson and her quest to plant wildflowers. I'll look up her Wildflower Center and their ranch.

I have some pictures of a field near me full of Indian Paintbrushes. I'm still looking for it. If I find it, I'll share here in your thread.

Here's the perfect partner to hard drinking: gambling! :ROFLMAO:

I'm not into gambling, but this guy's dodgy card counting exploits (and casino countermeasures) are really entertaining, especially with his ironic humour. Enjoy
