though sometimes it gets to be so much where they want to cuddle every time I sit down

Yep. 😹
But it's beautiful. To fill each other's lives with cuddles makes that we have strong bonds with our four legged friends. Uufje is in the bed with me now, she's rolling around and sometimes she is biting me, in a soft playful manner. When I talk to her (a form of attention she adores!) she's rolling up and rolling around some more, with her front paws close by her little face, looking at me with big eyes. It's the cutest thing. 🐈‍⬛🖤

Right now:

Uufje enjoying once again the attention. 😻

1000024387.webp

Prom grooming my hand and purring like a finetuned engine. 👅⚙️

Kika is looking at this all from an edge, and wants to join in! 👀

So she lodged herself right into my other arm for cuddles! I'm surrounded by kitties!! 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

omg it's challenging enough to get one cat to sit on one's lap, but two is the jackpot! Did they get on there by themselves, or did you encourage them a little bit?

No encouragement required at all. If I sit somewhere, Kika and Uufje will sit on my lap within the same minute. Sometimes it even takes less than 10 seconds, literally running towards me, with a happy meow!

Prom doesn't do this. He is of course a tough macho cat. 🕶️😼
(he thinks, but really he is a teddy bear)

I've given out heart emoji's on this whole page of pics and convo's. Love seeing the pics and reading the animal adoration reveals chat.

Btw, I have two dogs in my lap while I'm typing this. I was actually getting ready to leave the pc when Gidget showed up. Now I'm obligated to stay a little longer. I don't have the heart to not let her cuddle just a little bit now. She's being very demanding today.😁Melt 🫠

I'm planning to adopt one of the kitties into my home. She looks like she could use some care. But it's a process, because she is extremely shy. I've managed to pet her a few times, if only lightly and very briefly, which is a very recent development. And even if I manage to pick her up some day to bring her into my house, I have to make sure that my kitties will be okay with it. Thinking about introducing them very gradually to each other.

Well this has proven to be a challenge. Two days ago I managed to lure her with food into the hallway of my house. I left her there for a few minutes, as I relocated my cats to another room, to give the stray kitty space. After moving around cats and some stuff I returned to the hallway to let the kitty enter the main room. But the kitty was gone. This baffled me, then it turned out that she climbed up against a wooden wall and found a hole in the ceiling. She was now hiding between floors and walls in my house, a place where it's impossible for me to get.

But I figured, if she can get in, she can also get out. So I left the front door open the entire night, to allow her to escape. Which was kind of worrisome as a couple of days ago a potential burglar snooped around my house. Yeah, that's another story. Luckily I have built barb wired fencing around my house, so at least that's a bit of a barrier.

Anyway, the last two days I didn't sleep well. I monitored both the kitty as well to see if nobody would come in. I kept the lights on continuously to increase safety, even when I slept for a few hours.
But today the kitty finally came out of the hole. Again, some food strategically placed by the door did the trick. She was likely getting very hungry up there. Now the kitty is outside again. I'll leave her there for a while, don't want to stress her out again so soon. Also, I will close that hole in the ceiling in the meanwhile.

So yeah, that was my Christmas. 😵‍💫

The only pic I've ever managed to snap of her.

@Mars check this out ^^

That kitty would find the hole in the ceiling, the one place she shouldn't go, wow! At least it ended well. It will be fantastic when you can bring her in again and hopefully make her yours in time. That was clearly a stressy Christmas for you, but it was all worth it.

Have you thought of a name for her?

Yeah, that had very much a Murphy's Law feel to it. I knew about the hole, but I never even considered it would be a problem, because my cats have simply never bothered attempting to go even near it. But this kitty was so in panic, that evidently she sought a way out by any means necessary.

Yeah, she's such a vulnerable little kitty. She has the sweetest meow also, and seems very good natured. It's just that she's absolutely not used to humans, at all. I can come *kind of* near her, by virtue of being her food provider. But even that is very limited. She deserves a warm home.

Dibbetje. After a cat my oldest sister had in the 80s and 90s. I remember her well. Physically and color wise they look very alike, and the original Dibbetje was also a bit shy. So it fits.

Since you can't bring Dibbetje in from the cold yet, I suggest getting a shelter for her, one of those little house shaped things that they can sit inside, if possible and put it in your garden. If you can point a motion activated camera at it too to monitor it, that would be even better. I get that all this costs money though.

Leaving food and water for her is somewhat tricky because other animals are likely to avail themselves of it.

But I have already made a shelter! She does use it. The camera is a good idea, though.

Yeah, that happens. There is another cat around here. To people he's friendly, but to other cats he is a big bully. He is part of the reason why I want to take her in.

@Tiffany, I know what you mean, when you have to change your plans at the last minute like that, but it is only 'right and proper' that we do that. I do the same with Bubba, it reinforces our bond with our animals, when they know that we are tuned to their needs and wishes.
