Mobile for Landline Calls

Good few years back BT customers could have a phone app that allowed them to make calls through their landline when away from their home address.

From memory provided you had an internet connection you could use your mobile phone via the app to route calls through one's home phone. I think the objective was to make use of 'Friends and Family' charges.

It is odd that with the advance of technology that this facility is not now available.

I'll bet it's because this way it makes them more money. Can't see any other reason.

I have to agree with Retro here, though I get what the point is. Why aren't we combining services more holistically? I can see the idea is to offer services separately and tier them, though no one has a way to hold BT and other providers responsible for services they get rid of.
