Even though I pay my license and want to retain the ability to watch live TV so it won't affect me, I don't agree with this. Sounds like simply another money grab since so many people are now cancelling their TV licenses as all they watch is on demand TV via streaming from Netflix, Amazon Prime etc. Doing it this way is so underhand.
Why doesn't the government just call it a tax and be done with it? Or perhaps make the BBC go fully commercial, with ads like all the other channels, which I'm not in favour of.
