The Argos catalogue 1973/4 was the first ever produced by the company when they started in 1973 and it makes for fascinating viewing. It's like a time capsule and it just looks so gloriously dated, with the radios and stereos of the time especially so. They've even got radiograms!

This catalogue has been scanned and can be browsed through very quickly at the website below. The page turn animation is especially nice.

For the best viewing experience, look at this on a laptop or desktop PC, scroll down a bit until you see the controls, click the fullscreen icon at the bottom right to view it full screen, then click the left and right arrows to navigate.

Later years have also been scanned and are available at this article by an avid collector on his Retromash website.

talking about 'dated', just look at the clothes we were wearing then...
This is a labour of love, for sure; amazing what you can find online theses days.
Funny how you can leaf thru the pages of an ancient catalogue and still feel the childish excitement of finding what you were looking for: those cuddly little Teddies. £1.90...

~~~why is Nostalgia always tinged with sadness~~~
