His voice is all wrong, but the cover tune is good. I’d like the instrumental.

It's almost as if he's trying to channel Shatner rather than Iggy Pop. Versus the original, though, the music sounds... artificial.

And is it just me, or is he starting to look like ol' Orange 45 in his old age?

Listening to the song again now, when I can turn up the volume and the bass to modest levels, it actually sounds very good. It would still be much better as an instrumental, though. And what's with the black and white video?

EDIT: the song has really grown on me. I really like this modern makeover he's given it. His voice doesn't seem so odd now, either. Guess I was just used to the original version.

Much like the song, it's intended as a pastiche of the original... just not a very good one
