Very dark indeed. Without my light, the night would be pitch black. 🔦

Do you know where you are all of the time

I've taken this route hundreds of times, so I know the way quite well, down to every last bump and ditch. 🤓

Do you have to worry about watching for wild animals?

Not really. We don't have any of those wild animals you mentioned. Technically there could be wolves in the area, but the chances of encountering them are extremely low (though not zero). 🐺

We have mountain lions, bobcats

Better bring a big bag of Dreamies when you're venturing out! 🐯

I hope you always are warm and stay safe doing all of that walking!

Thank you, Tiffany. Luckily I live in one of the safest countries in the world, and your kindness keeps me warm. 🥰 (and some good clothing too 🧥🧤)

It looks treacherous to me, scary af. There has to be a better way?

I know what I'm doing, partner. This ain't my first rodeo. 🤠

@Hitcore I'm glad you have an efficient flashlight, and don't have to worry much about animals except for wolves (I'll find some Dreamies) and that you have your way so memorized / imprinted on your brain that you wouldn't ever get lost. Glad you stay warm and in a safe country (can't say much like that about the US).

Huge blizzard blowing through the Northeast states. My dh is actually stranded, thanks to mis-management staff at the airport. The brakes on his plane broke. Long day, long story, but basically, in the end when his flight was cancelled, by grace, a determined taxi driver drove him to the hotel he was staying at, in severe treacherous blizzard conditions. Snow is falling at 2 to 3 inches per hour. This taxi driver got him to safety. Shout-out to those hard working people that put their lives at risk in service to help others in dire situations. 🥇

Meanwhile, here in the Southwest we have just entered a rapid warming period with a high of 90 to end this week. Yesterday's high was 64. Huge high pressure air mass is parked for the week.

Enjoy your warm weather with your high pressure mass in place for the week. @live627 ! I think you're sending some of that our way in a few days.

I have a correction to make in my post#803. I used feet instead of inches of snowfall. I've edited it, but wanted to update here, because, then I wondered if snowfall could ever be as much as 2 to 3 feet per hour. So, I looked that statistic up, because, well, this is a weather nerd statistic, lol, and I found that snow can fall at the rate of 12 inches per hour, and in the US the record for that is in Copenhagen, New York in 1966.

Such temperature extremes on at the same time.

Warm and mild in the UK:

Bitterly cold in the US:

Russia is extreme, of course. But here in Denmark we've been dealing with snow also quite a bit. It is only since yesterday that all snow has finally completely melted. There were 54 consecutive days of snow on the ground.

Both yesterday and today it's 6°C/43°F. The warmest days of this year so far! Coming from freezing temperatures for such a long time even this modest refrigerator temperature feels amazing. I almost feel like putting on some shorts and a Hawaii shirt, and just chill out at the beach, lol. 🌞⛱️

@Retro Interesting how warm the UK was for this time of year. I enjoyed seeing the pictures in the article because the terrain, such as trees, ponds and streams are so different then in the states. The NE did have a massive blizzard. My dh finally got a flight home on Wednesday. He was supposed to come back on Sunday, but after 12 hours at the airport , the flight was canceled. A lot of people were left very stranded with out transportation and a place to go.

@Hitcore Omg, those snow pictures!! Are the real? That would be so much fun!

When we had our ice storm a few weeks ago, I put my skates on to skate on the ice in my driveway. It wasn't the best ice, but none the less a milestone to keep skating until I can't. I'll be like that grandma (Betty Gregory) that still skydives on her birthday every year. She just did it again, at 93 years of age. Got to appreciate her spirit. :)

Yes, that's the Kamchatka region of Russia in late January, where they were dealing with the heaviest snowfall in 60 years.
Though I doubt how fun it would be if you're living on the 10th floor of your commieblock and snow is peeking through your window.

Another pic:

That's a lot of mashed potatoes!

Thanks for more information about your picture that it was real from a region in Russia. That is some extreme snow... never knew a part of Russia could have that much snow. 😱😱

Windy as heck here today in the southern US. There's no standing outside, going to the lake or driving safely. Wind gusts over 50mph or more. It's so windy our garage doors are banging against the frames and our dogs keep barking every now and then as they keep thinking the garage doors are going up and someone is coming home. Extremely unusual weather today. Extreme winds and extreme drop of 50 degrees in temperature through out the day. The only thing missing to make it a severe weather event is precipitation, which I'm grateful. Back in 2015, on December 26, many counties experienced severe weather outbreaks with large deadly tornados with this same type of set up. The reason it was so severe is because there was a lot of moisture coming up north from the Gulf. For us we can get through it, but as this system gains strength and starts passing through the lower south states, there's the potential for a lot of bad weather. Praying everyone will be okay.
