What happens when you put a ball or disc on its edge on a rotating turntable? Clue: it doesn't fly off like a penny laid flat on it would.

Fascinating physics demonstration by Steve Mould that a lot of people won't know about.

OMG!! That is so cool! Very interesting on how you can manipulate the ball to stay in place and match the speed of the turntable too. I would have liked to know about this example in physics a long time ago....might have prevented some unexpected flying projectile calamities in my real life. ;)

Oh do tell! 😛

I actually didn't know that the system would behave like this. I thought I knew all the basic physics there was to know, but there's clearly more. Would be fascinating to learn about other new things like this.
