Next time you hear about the supposed climate action that the UK is taking to tackle climate change / global warming, don't believe it, it's all a lie.
The nasty revelation below from The Guardian shows what a great big con the whole thing is and makes me pretty angry. This is such a game changer, a sharp inflection point, that I've created this pinned thread about just this issue and republished my post below the line. You can see it in its original context here:

Hot on the heels of my post above comes this shocking story.
Forget that tiny less than 1% difference that we could make by cutting our emissions with expensive and restrictive "green initiatives", they're blown completely out of the water by these rampant climate wrecking actions by Big Banks in bed with Big Corps. No way the government, regardless of flavour, didn't know about this and involved in some way, so they're complicit and flat out lying to us about achieving net zero, or whatever other BS that they try to foist on us.
I was right, all these "green initiatives" are indeed all about control of the little people and Big Corps increasingly profiting off us. You better believe it.
I wish it was possible to pin this post in this thread as this article is a real eye opener, a total game changer.

Banks in the City of London have poured more than $100bn (£75bn) into companies developing “carbon bombs” – huge oil, gas and coal projects that would drive the climate past internationally agreed temperature limits with catastrophic global consequences – according to a study.
Nine London-based banks, including HSBC, NatWest, Barclays and Lloyds are involved in financing companies responsible for at least 117 carbon bomb projects in 28 countries between 2016 – the year after the landmark Paris agreement was signed – and 2023, according to the study.
If the projects go ahead, the study says they will have the potential to produce 420bn tonnes of carbon emissions, equivalent to more than 10 years of current global carbon dioxide emissions.
