This thread is for those epic moments in your life that you'll remember forever and want to tell everyone about them.
I'll kick things off:
I went to a private dance party around 1998 set up in a rented hall, with friends. The sound system had the biggest, deepest bass I've ever heard before or since.
Picture the speakers: 4 huge square cabinets, two per side with each one just big enough to house 4 large woofers, likely 15 inches each making 16 in total. Now imagine all 16 of these woofers all fed with a really deep, bassy signal off a CD at high volume. The effect was awesome.
I'd love to know how many watts that amp was pumping out to drive them. Gonna guess a good 200, likely more.
The sound wasn't ear-splittingly loud like a nightclub thankfully, but just sounded loud with this enormous bass pounding my body. And of course, being bass, there was a sweet spot in the room where it was really strong, powerful and deep. I especially love the deepest bass possible and this system had it in abundance. I could easily hear and feel it, not just the "body slam" of cheap woofers without a real low end played loud. If ever there was something that could be described as an aural orgasm this was it: it was like a drug as I still crave it today! Oh did I say that I love bass?
Thankfully, my home system can kick out some big, deep bass too, but obviously not on this scale, which can clearly be heard at low and moderate volumes minimising the disturbing of the neighbours unfortunately.
