Oh my … I don’t want to be rude, but I have heard all the points in this video ad naseum.
These are all the most standard, most repeated atheist talking points that I have heard most of my life and continue to have forced on me from every quarter on an almost daily basis—often with no good faith behind them to foster healthy, productive discussion. Tbh I’m a little surprised you’d share them here seemingly expecting that I’d find these points interesting or new
I’m sure your intentions are good
@Retro but I’m not really convinced it would be helpful for anyone if I tried to address this
Right, I finally get to reply!
Well, yes, of course you would hear all the same arguments over and over because the truth doesn't change with time and there are only so many points to make, which I think have pretty much been covered in this video. I especially liked the presentation and wanted to start a thread on religion, so posted this video.
It would be fine for you to address it, of course it would. You're quite articulate in your explanations, eg the flat earth* debunks, so feel free to post your video addressing these points which could make for some lively conversation, or just a written response, if you like. This isn't the "agree with Retro" thread, but an "all viewpoints welcome" one, as always. Only if you want to, of course.
*The earth is actually a really huge 4D hypersphere with only part of it sticking into our dimension, producing a sphere the size of our earth, don't argue.
Ok, of course I'm kidding, but if such a hypersphere existed, sitting partially in our 3D space (mathematically this is possible, see below) and was fairly dense, then you really would get gravity and would be able to run around it like we do.
Check out the explanation on this website. There's a nice video to go with it, too. Dunno why it's billed for children, because really it's suitable for anyone who wants to explore the 4th dimension.

You can buy it here and is well worth the price imo, especially as it's so cheap. It doesn't take a high spec PC to run it, either.

@Tiffany Yes, religion does give hope (it causes a helluva lot of conflict, too), but that's false hope, ie the thing one wishes for never comes true and that's the worst thing of all. Been there and got the t-shirt, it's horrible, the kind of thing I'd wish on my worst enemy.
Of course, there are scenarios where it's probably best that someone remains believing in their religion of whatever flavour eg, christian, muslim etc, say, if someone is dying (there are more, but can't think of them off the top of my head). However, in most instances, I think a person would be better off realising the truth and not hoping fruitlessly for help with desperate problems that never comes because their god doesn't exist. I think that's real mental cruelty and pretty sick to apply it to innocent people.
