Until I happened to Google "can a person with type 1 diabetics put on weight and develop type 2 as well?" just now out of curiosity, I'd never heard of this. It's when people with type 1 develop type 2 as well, usually due to weight gain. It's surprisingly common though with over half of people with type 1 and obesity developing type 2 as well. What a headache. Effective treatments for it can't come soon enough.

As a response to several different factors, some individuals with type 1 diabetes can also develop characteristics of type 2 diabetes. Find out what may put you at risk and how you can try to prevent and manage ‘double diabetes.’

While people are not diagnosed with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes at the same time, those with type 1 may be at risk for also developing characteristics of type 2 diabetes over time.

During my time when I studied elderly healthcare they mentioned this. Though not an official term, here we call it Diabetes Type 1½, with traits of both types. People having this often have to awkwardly balance between not taking in too much sugar, while also still having to take in a certain amount. And injections.... so many injections.
