15 years ago today on the 26th of March 2010, Nvidia unveiled their new directx11 GTX 480 and GTX 470 at the PAX east expo. They weren’t the first out with a DX11 card though – that was AMD with the Radeon HD 5870.I never had one of these cards so there isn’t a huge nostalgia hit for me, but for many they ushered in a revolution in gaming.. assuming you could cope with the heat output, noise and electricity demands that is 😉I was curious just what this card was still capable of on it’s 15th birthday, and the answer is – more than I expected! It even manages to (sort of) play some modern titles! So please join me as I see what this aging semi-flagship card can still do in 2025.

Look forward to watching your video later.

I've got a reference GTX 580 which has all the same features as it’s also Fermi, but a little bit better as it's a point upgrade architecturally and a higher end model, too. I can lend it to you if you wanna make a follow-up video with comparative benchmarks. Let me know.

Interesting to see just how poor this reasonably high end card for its day performs nowadays. Would be interesting to know how much an up to date driver would improve framerate and compatibility if it existed.

Great to see your channel membership and views start to take off. I think you have a very engaging style that deserves to be rewarded.

Thanks! Next step is going to be the fun one.. 470, 570, 670, 770, 970, 1070, 2070, 3070 & 4070.. all in the same video to see how the entire 70 class lineup have evolved over time. I'm dreading it.
