The Roman god of war is Mars. His month is March. No good things happen in March, and it all stems from the ill-fated Ides of March:
March 15. On that day in the year 44 BC Julius Caesar was assassinated.
So maybe the weird title alludes to March 15 in the year 30000?
Probably not; just the way I try to make sense of that weird title; actually Hitcore's sounds more plausible.

true, March weather can be temperamental, and if that title alludes to a spacecraft named 'Mars 15', flying at a speed of 30000 km/hr? not a good choice.

That is exactly my thought. But I could be wrong. In the end we are all guessing here, only Dan Lebowitz himself truly knows.
If he was high on drugs when naming it he may not!
