Digital pound likely this decade

First time I hear of this and it looks like a solution looking for a problem as the pound is already digital. What we absolutely don't want is to make the pound more volatile, like Bitcoin, or other cryptocurrencies.

They can consult all they like on it. If they sense they can make a grift out of it they’ll do it, if they see it for the Ponzi scheme it is and they can’t see a happy ending for it… they’ll do it only if the runway is long enough.

I find it funny, albeit depressing that my first job was 20k, and when my mum worked for 20k back in the 80s it was 66k in modern money.
