DOOM can now be played from a motherboard BIOS

There you go, you know PCs have come a long way when a whole game can be played from the BIOS. In this instance, the original DOOM from 1993. Kinda dumb and pointless once you see the downside to it.

It's all done using Coreboot. Anyone care to try this and post a video about it?

While this sounds like a great idea, there is a glaring downfall to this. If you exit the game, your system becomes unusable and freezes immediately. After this happens, you only have PS/2 keyboard support. You will also lose save support capability and sound.


As much fun as this sounds, is it worth trying it once to have to fix your system afterward?

It's always fun to see ways people push hardware to run DOOM. Not sure I'd do it from the booter but that was how things were done back in the day, so...
