Wouldn't it be nice if damaged teeth could be regrown, ending the nightmare of fillings and other scary and painful tooth treatments? Just think, you could eat more delicious sugary food without thinking (too much) about it. It will still make you fat and give you diabetes, but hey. 🤷‍♂️

Scientists have successfully grown human teeth in a laboratory for the first time.

Researchers at King’s College London say the breakthrough could lead to patients regrowing lost teeth in future, offering an alternative to fillings or dental implants.

The team developed a material that mimics the environment needed for tooth development, enabling cells to send signals and begin forming a tooth.

Dr Ana Angelova Volponi, the director of regenerative dentistry at King’s College, said the research has the possibility to “revolutionise dental care”.
