I was going to post a thread named 'Virtuoso guitarists' as that's what I was listening to for a while, but 'guitar music' is good enough:

Earlier today I started looking for music i want to hear - stuff that is solely on the go. I think from like 2009 until now we've finally gotten a full reorientation, from dance music back to dance music again, and could do with something guitar and heavy.

Music I've been listening to:
Joe Satriani, Buckethead and Beck

I always think of Queen's Brian May in this category, not so many guitarists can say that they made their own guitar with their father's help.

Also in the category of virtuosos, Gary Moore, Tony Iommi, Rory Gallagher.

Brill choice with Rory Gallagher, the real inspiration for Jimi Hendrix.

These two Joe Satriani tracks are epic. Thanks for reminding me of this artist, these are going in my Retro's Music section.

Rory Gallagher’s Moonchild definitely seems to have inspired part of Iron Maiden’s 2 Minutes to Midnight…

I'm interested in the return of scene bands like

City Sleeps (bones is a good song), Fall of Troy, and Motion City Soundtrack to name a few.

A song by Dream Theatre:
