...and greetings from a 43 year old Dutchy with a strong sense of nostalgia for everything 80s and 90s, whether that be music, movies, series, games, or tech in general. For instance, I still have my MSX computer, I'm a huge NES nerd, and I'm into acidhouse such as Hithouse, which my handle is based on.

I've been lurking here for a bit and it seems like a comfy place to talk about these things. No algorithms, no clickbait, no bots, just a relatively small group of actual people who are mostly here to share their nerdy interests. From what I can tell Nerdzone has been around only since 2022, but it reminds me of the much earlier days of the internet, which is a good thing. That being said I'm looking forward to have pleasant interactions here about said topics. :-)

Welcome Hitcore, great to have you with us! šŸ˜Ž

It sounds like you'd enjoy the Science and Technology and also the computer / classic computers sections, especially.

Indeed, this is just a pure forum, with no ads, or anything like that, with a small, friendly group of people.

Welcome aboard! I don't have a lot of time lately to come post but, the 80's and 90's music, movies and such were pretty good. Hope you find this one fun (and that embedding it works :P ):

Welcome Hitcore!!šŸŽ‰ Same on music; everything 80's and 90's. Eddie Van Halen was the greatest guitarist in the world.

Here's Eddie Van Halen's Eruption solo which is amazing!

Well that is right up my street, Data66! I love channels like those, great find, I've subscribed. Also I'm a big fan of AVGN. And who cannot like Super Mario Bros. 3, I was 6 years old when I got that game for Sinterklaas (Dutch version of Christmas). Amazing game, even still!

Great taste, Tiffany! 10 minutes solos on stage by guitar legends who are tuned in to the vibes of those very moments is a Hallmark of those days. Van Halen speaks to the imagination, just like Santana, when he gets going I stop whatever I'm doing and I'm listening.

My taste is pretty broad, I don't stick to just one genre. House music, rock, even hip-hop I appreciate though with the latter I'm strictly talking about oldschool artists, such as Beastie Boys.

It's great we can share these things with one another! :-)

Iā€™m not sure how related or unrelated this might be to acidhouse, but I have a recording of a very old EDM concert in Houten, called ā€œOsmotic Live.ā€ Iā€™ve listened to it since I was a kid and am very fond of it.

I think my brother got it through a small EDM community he was part of. Not sure of all the details.

One of the artists listed ā€œTreciseā€ I believe is this gentleman, who Iā€™m following on Twitter.

Hi Peter, nice to meet you. I've been searching for that concert, unfortunately I cannot find it. However, I did manage to spot Timo Rozendal. He's still active and last year he has uploaded this (let's hope I'm doing the embedding right, I'll also add the regular link just to be sure) :

I wouldn't quite call it acidhouse, but there's definitely a certain 90s sound to it. I dig it!

We love Santana! He makes really awesome boots too.

It is great to share and glad you're here!

Glad you found us, Hitcore. Any kind of music, if it is what speaks to you, is soul-medicine.
So come in any time and chill out. Drinks are allowed in our club, but you'll have to bring your own bottle;)

During the first 30 seconds of my concert recording, an announcer speaks to introduce things. I believe they're probably speaking Dutch, but I don't know the first thing about it ... Would it be presumptuous for me to ask if you can translate it for me? šŸ˜„

Here's a download link of the 30-second audio clip:

Haha no problem, Peter, I'm happy to oblige!

"Welcome you all! I see that the place is getting full, please move forward!
On behalf of the Valentine Tour I'd like to welcome you to Houten.
In front of me are standing 3 producers of the CD Osmotic Hype, and for this tour they specially made a program which they will let you hear now.

Give them a great applause, here's Osmotic Live!"

I can imagine that when you have that file in your possession for all these years that eventually you start wondering what the nice lady is saying!

Yes indeed! But in fact I did start to understand a few words here and there which are nearly cognates in English, like ā€œproducers.ā€ And of course I couldnā€™t have missed ā€œCD Osmotic Liveā€ which she essentially spoke in English (with a non-English but still quite intelligible pronunciation of the letters in ā€œCDā€).

And over time I realized when she said ā€œHoutenā€ it matched with the name ā€œHoutenā€ written in the track title which is what ultimately helped me realize that ā€œNLā€ meant ā€œNetherlandsā€ and that it was probably Dutch she was speaking. But thatā€™s about as far as I got with it.

Thatā€™s over the course of 20 years that Iā€™ve owned this recording ā€¦ šŸ˜„ Thank you so much, thatā€™s such a delightful and fun little treat!

It does also give us the clue of ā€œValentine Tourā€ regarding the concert itself. (But I donā€™t know if your curiosity in trying to find it is already spentā€”I wouldnā€™t blame you šŸ˜œ)

Oh yes and I ought to say, I do in fact have the entire music album that she mentioned ā€œOsmotic Hype.ā€ Of course I knew this was related somehow, but it was pretty foggy since I couldnā€™t understand her words.

This album contains some of my favorite music of all time, which I would listen to obsessively through my teen years. I have some formative memories attached to it

I also know one other artist involved: one of these tracks is by Prophetica, which was the performer name for Eric Dunne. He was local to my area in Central Ohio. My brother met him once, and my uncle worked with him for some years.

I suppose that must be the connection of how this music came into my possession.

(Unfortunately there was a bad-faith dealing with the record label that Eric was signed to. He somehow lost the legal rights to all his music and now no longer writes it, at least not under that nameā€¦ šŸ˜ So tragic.)

Awesome, we now have a translator in our midst! šŸ˜Ž šŸ˜Ž

Yes, you do. And not just for Dutch. I also speak German and Danish. While being a Dutchy, I in fact live in Denmark. Long story!

Over the weekend when I have more time I'll look into that music! Perhaps I'll also share something somewhere on this forum: my childhood/teen music. Got a nice little backstory on that, so I know how deep a lifelong feeling for certain music can run!
