Anyone know if Panasonic cordless handsets are backward compatible? 2 handsets of ours have failed. Can I replace the handsets with a newer model (keeping the main base and 3rd handset which are older) or should I just buy a new system. Will the new handsets connect with the older base? Thanks in advance!

Ian, I've moved your thread to a more appropriate forum and given it a meaningful name. :)

I'm sorry you phones are broken. I don't know if you can mix and match them, but personally, I recommend buying a new system from a quality brand (Panasonic is fine) as you know for sure that it will all work. Sticking points could be pairing the devices, encryption keys and transmission frequencies used.

If you want to try to mix and match, please let us have the model number of the system which might help people to answer your question.

Thanks Retro. The old handset was a KX-TGA80SE which seems to be obsolete, although I can probably get them on eBay.
The base has model number KX-TG8061E
