How do cats really purrceive us?
But indeed, it is interesting to think about this. I feel that what's said in the video gets it mostly right.
Cats can see that we are different, physically. Yet they do see us as kind-of-family, if they are close to us.
I am pretty sure that only one of my cats sees me as a parent figure. Funny enough this is the mom cat who does that. Her young kitties don't treat me the same way she does. They do like me, but I feel that it is more transactional. The mom cat however absolutely loves me and is very close to me. She was alone and homeless when I picked her up, so I guess that goes a long way. The young kitties think I'm kind and fun, but they really have their own mommy, and in the end I'm a giant upright walking food dispenser to them.
A long time ago, 2009, I had a Russian Blue, together with my girlfriend of the time. The sad thing about girlfriends with cats is that when the relationship ends, I don't get to see the cats anymore. I never miss my exes, but I always miss the cats!
Here she is, chilling in my hobby room. Such a sweet pretty kitty. She was very clever too.
