Inflation is pushing the price of beer up towards £14 a pint

At this rate, going to the pub is going to become completely unaffordable and if one does go, buying a round of drinks will be out of the question. Of course, everything else is getting more expensive as well.

I can just see even more pubs going out of business at these prices.

A pint of beer in London is on track to hit £14 in just two and a half years if inflation and energy costs continue to surge, new research predicts.

Higher energy costs, wages and supply chain issues have meant businesses have been forced to pass on costs to customers with the price of every day purchases soaring.

As well as £14 for a pint of beer, a cup of takeaway coffee is also likely to soar in price to as much as £4.44, and the average Uber trip will hit £26, by 2025, according to figures from pension provider Penfold.

But since MPs don't drink beer, they don't care.

Though at the rate things are going, beer might *have* to be made cheaper as before long it'll be the only thing safe to drink because water is rapidly heading in the direction of not being safe to drink (because the proper processing chemicals are too expensive since Brexit, so we voted to not bother)

It used to be the case that people drank beer because that was more likely to be cleaner than the water. We ought not to go back to those times.

Bloody hell, I've never heard of beer being cleaner than water. That's dire if true.

Well, that’s going back a way when water wasn’t purified in any way but beer had to be brewed and in so doing you’d boil the water in it to catalyse the reaction, so you’d inadvertently purify it.

That's an atrocity to not take public health in water purification at the highest level needed to make sure folks are drinking safe water. But then America, short changes in a lot of areas too. Would it help to use some of those water purifying pitchers for drinking water?

They probably would help, yes, because it'll take things out of the water that shouldn't be there. Boiling also good too - other than the fact we're getting reamed left, right and centre by the energy companies too.
