Judas Priest were one of the seminal Heavy Metal bands, the leather, the on-stage posturing, the heavy guitar riffs, they had it all.
They were fronted by the one and only silver throat, Rob Halford. No one could hit the high notes quite like him.
Judas Priest were loud and wild, but every now and then, they'd come up with a gem of a ballad.
Take
"Before the Dawn"....Sublime.
Also, they would come up with songs of defiance and courage like
"Blood Red Skies"; it's a long track, but it is quite disconcerting how it depicted the little man not giving-in to the all-seeing all-controlling what they call 'cybernetic heartbeat':
Here's a sample:
".....Through a shattered city
Watched by laser eyes
Overhead the night squad glides, the decaying paradise
Automatic sniper
With computer sights
Scans the bleak horizon for its victim of the night....."
And the music and riffs of 'Blood Red Skies' are to die for as well. Driving and relentless. A classic Judas Priest at their best.
