Measurements have to be meaningful and catchy to become popular. This is why we don't measure small things like the width of a book in light nanoseconds for example. It's mathematically accurate, but quite unrelatable and writing light nanoseconds all the time quite inconvenient, although shortened to ln would work.

Americans will use anything but the metric system. 🫣
The irony of this is that their root standards are metric like the rest of the world, but then convert them to imperial for daily use. The reason given is that it's just tradition. 🤦‍♂️ Aside from imperial being so damned awkward to use, this introduces errors too. Idiotic.
