This thread could belong in the Science & Technology section, but as it relates to the Portal video game, I've put it here.

They don't mention Half-Life in this article, but I guess HL3 hasn't happened for the same reason that Portal 3 didn't happen. However, I think Valve owes it to their legion of HL fans (me included) to put in the resources to finally finish the game. They'll make loads of money off it anyway, so it's win-win.
