First and foremost a huge thank you to Retro for allowing me to do this, and hello and welcome to my video section!

Since fairly recently (at the moment of writing this) I have started this YouTube channel. For a while I have sought to have a creative outlet and with this music I think I have found it. Even as a child I was always very much into a variety of EDM styles, something that has been a consistent factor in my life. From acidhouse to techno, and from synthwave to even gabber. The music I make is not true to just one of those styles but I (try to) make a blend of it all, experimenting with creating a unique style.

Doing this for fun, the whole process is an adventure. I'm kinda inexperienced with music making, so I'm using a fair share of AI for this, though I tweak it heavily until it is to my liking. But the idea is to eventually really produce tunes from scratch, where I'll be using more and more dedicated music programs and maybe a proper keyboard even.

Perhaps I'll use this thread also to post edits or updates on general developments (for example: in the event of using new software).

I just like making this kind of stuff, and I hope you'll enjoy smelling what's cooking in the kitchen. :)

Glad you're enjoying it!

Also, today I've picked up an encouraging signal. While so far whenever I uploaded a video, I would share them with friends and family, and here on NZ of course, but after that the view count would always stagnate at just about a little bit over a hundred on average, after the first week not many views are added to that. Which made me conclude that YouTube didn't recommend my videos to random users at all. Until today, when I read this:

This confirms that YouTube finally is starting to put my work into the recommendations system. It's all still very small time, it will likely take quite a while before any of my videos go beyond the triple digits, but this sign is hopeful and it sorta made my day. 🙂

I've been seeing your videos in my recommended feed, but as I'm already subbed, I dunno if that makes a difference.

Well, if you're subbed then you always get to see the (new) videos in the recommendations feed, regardless of how popular the videos may or may not be. It's pretty much the whole idea behind subscriptions, in fact.

About half of my subscribers (12 at this moment) are friends and family from The Netherlands btw. 😅
But there's this British bloke who is subscribed and leaves comments to every video, which is pretty cool. 😉

Minor announcement: I won't be uploading any videos this spring/summer. Two main reasons:
  1. Spending more time outdoors. This weather is just lovely. There will be plenty of time again to be glued to my screen when the looong Scandinavian winter returns.
  2. My hardware is in dire need of to be replaced. No, seriously, it's a dinosaur from 2014 that's still running Windows 7.
Like, for real, this thing is turning literally into a space heater. The room actually warms up when the PC is running. It's rather loud too, it's like editing in the cargo hull of a bloody 747. And those power outages that took place all over Europe recently?
The official explanation: "It's because of some weird weather conditions, lol"
The explanation of critics: "The renewable energy infrastructure can't keep up with energy demand."
The real explanation: My dinosaur PC was rendering a freaking video! 😆

So yeah... I've got all summer to find something else, the timing is right. And I'm glad I was just able to push VOC Mentality out of it (barely). The last task it has ever performed. The mighty old PC had a good run. It is time for it to retire. Thank you for your service, old PC. 🫡
