What better at the end of the shortest day of the year than to post about the oddest aircraft crash I've ever heard of? This is like the one that crashed, a Pegasus Quantum 15.

As the article is short, I'm quoting all of it here:
A plane took off without its pilot at a North East airfield and is thought to have crashed into the sea.
The pilot was left on the runway watching as the plane accelerated away and took off unaccompanied, a report has revealed.
The incident involving an ultralight Pegasus Quantum 15 two-seater happened at Athey’s Moor Airfield near Longframlington, Northumberland on October 3 this year.
According to the Air Accidents Investigation Branch the small plane’s battery was flat so the pilot decided to hand-start the engine from outside the aircraft.
It left the ground and was tracked by radar flying over the Northumberland coast and out to sea where it is presumed to have crashed a short time later.
No one was on board and no one was injured.
