Peaked at 32C here in London today! No thunderstorms as of now, who knows about tonight, we’ll see! I say thunderstorms all the safer in the night when most of us are asleep!

That's really pretty hot across the pond! :( We are in the upper 90's(F) plus for the rest of the summer. When storms come at night here, they aren't always tame. 🫣

Oh yay, more overheating!

Temperatures could reach 30C today as the UK braces for four days of hot weather, with an amber heat health alert in force.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) alert - the second in two weeks - which covers London, the East Midlands, South East, South West and East of England, will last until 6pm on Tuesday.

A yellow heat health alert also covers Yorkshire and The Humber and the West Midlands over the same period.

Argh, it's forecasted to be 33 celsius on Monday and Tuesday here in London, and then finally showers on Wednesday and back to 22/23 degrees for the rest of the week, including the weekend!

Sorry about your hot weather in the UK. I'm staying hopeful you all won't have a repeat summer like last summer or was it the summer before last that was so hot that the heat was melting your roads? Glad you have some showers coming in to cool the temps a bit.🌧️

We're just hot now.🥵🔥

Yeah, it's been pretty hot today and I do feel somewhat heat exhausted. My desk fan has made all the difference at reducing the impact.

That sounds miserably hot; stay hydrated. I'm glad you have your desk fan to help.

This is really bad. I bet 40C comes to the UK this summer.

Major heatwaves across southern Europe have left Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece in sweltering conditions of more than 40C (104F).

How did you cope with the heatwave last summer when it was 40C?

That was in 2022. I was in the office, which is air conditioned and hence fully insulated from it. Stepping outside though was like a furnace. Thankfully my home was tolerable, just about.

I reckon you were at home in the morning and evening due to work, and morning and evening is cooler than afternoon, so I suppose that makes sense?

@Retro let’s both be grateful that we aren’t in France, where temperatures are expected to reach 42C! 👏
A nuclear plant in France is being closed to prevent the river, from which the nuclear plant draws cooling water, from overheating.

Yes, at work during normal business hours.

Crikey, I've never heard of a nuclear power plant having to shut down due to hot weather. First time for everything, I guess.

It coulda happened but not made major headlines. I mean, you seem like you weren’t aware of this until I posted this! It wasn’t a major headline or of the sort, just happened to come up on my Reddit feed :P

What a relief!
18C this morning until 3/4pm then after 5pm it’s gonna be 23/24C - perfect, as it’s easier to work when it’s cool and it’s also not too hot after work but nice and warm to enjoy the sunshine 🌞

Oh great, a third heatwave. It's still pretty warm, but comfortable with the fan on so I wish it would stay like this.

Temperatures are set to top 30C in some parts of the country this week, as the UK prepares for its third heatwave of the summer.

The Met Office has warned Britons could face more warm and uncomfortable nights ahead, with mercury set to creep up from Wednesday.

If the temperatures remain high until Friday, the UK will officially mark its third heatwave of the season.

Temperatures are expected to climb even higher over the weekend into the low 30s.
