I thought about all the animals that have to weather this cold, having a hard time of it.

We think very much alike in that regard. Of course I can't help all the animals in the world, but I can do things for some stray cats who hang around my garden here. I leave out lots of food for them, and I have built a double insulated kitty shelter some while ago, which they really use a lot now. There's one stray kitty in particular I want to take to the vet to get her checked up. She's very shy. A couple of days ago, however, she sniffed my hand. A great step, since previously she would run away if you came as close as ten yards to her.
Naturally it's still very cold out there for them, but anything I can do to fill their bellies and to provide them with shelters that are at least a few degrees warmer than outside, it all helps!

Meanwhile, my indoor cats enjoy the sun. It may be chilly outside (-4°C) but the sunshine through the windows right onto their black fur makes them feel quite warm!

As far for me? I'm having a cold, lol. Worked outdoors a lot. Also 300km per week on the scooter.

Dang. Better put your winter boots ready. I know I will. I've been checking some forecasts and have been cross referencing this "beast from the east", and it turns out that Denmark will also be affected by it to some degree, but not as much and constant as the UK. There are more variables here, resulting in some cold, some snow, but also some rain. One moment it can be -5c, the other +5c.

@Hitcore pretty kitty cat. Is your cat a chocolate color? Looks very happy. I have a 4 pound Chihuahua that suns herself every afternoon. She's my cat-like dog. Stay warm in your winter weather!

An interesting history on the last time the UK experienced it's last SSW in 2018..

This is the same phenomenon responsible for the Beast from the East that swept the UK, Ireland and much of continental Europe in 2018, bringing unusually low temperatures and heavy snowfall.

@Tiffany with 4 pounds your Chihuahua is definitely cat sized! She's half the size, even. I haven't weighed my cats recently, but they're like 8 pounds I think, and my cats are slightly smaller than average!
I like to think that my cats are black , they appear to be in every situation, except for when they are in the sun, then they do have this brown'ish color indeed. Funny how that works.
