This analysis from Business Insider reckons that Trump still has a good chance of getting voted back in despite those 91 felony charges against him, something that would sink anyone else. Unfortunately, they're probably right. This is why the disqualification court case must win, but Trump's already succeeded in getting this critical case pushed back. Get it pushed back far enough, along with appeals for him to get elected president and he'll have the power to make it and all the others go away with a wave of his hand. This mustn't happen, I can't stress this enough.

A Trump return would be a nightmare for America and the world, as I've explained previously in this thread.

Former President Donald Trump is facing a phalanx of prosecutors, a suite of Republican contenders vying for the spot above the ticket, an ocean of money from those within and without his party who would thwart his return to the presidency, and an incumbent president presiding over a decently humming economy.

Make no mistake, though: There's still a pretty solid chance he pulls it off and becomes the president again.

Trump is carrying a 10 point lead over Biden in this weeks latest poll, I think it was the Washington Post? Dunno what's going to happen but everything is really ramping up in the states right now with the news.

Yeah, it was the Washington Post.

This lead puts democracy in great danger. Just shows how stupid people are to believe the lies of someone like Trump when all the evidence points to the contrary.

Uh-Oh for Trump~ A judge ruled Trump defrauded banks and insurers during the period of time when he was in Real Estate acquisition and building. 😱

Judge Arthur Engoron, ruling in a civil lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, found that the former president and his company deceived banks, insurers and others by massively overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing financing.

...and now Trump is throwing a hissy fit about it! :ROFLMAO: Not surprising is it?

When Trump refused for so long to release his tax returns, it was obviously to hide fraud. Now his crimes are catching up with him. I wonder if this crime attracts jail time. Here's hoping.

Looks like Trump doesn't have that much cash after all. So much for being a billionnaire lol. Destroy his ability to spend on his defence and he goes down. Sweet.

Michael Cohen, former personal attorney to Donald Trump, said the fraud case in New York could wreck the former president financially.

“If you really want to get to Donald, the way to do it is through his bankbook,” he told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. “That’s what really gets to him.”

And this case, he predicted, will have a massive impact on that bankbook.

Judge Arthur Engoron ruled on Tuesday that Trump committed fraud for years by overvaluing his assets and net worth to obtain loans, and the judge ordered the dissolution of some of the former president’s companies.

Trump is really screwed: the judge's conclusion below is ordering the dissolution of the Trump Organisation. This is likely to break him. Finally his chickens are coming home to roost.

Trial starts 2nd October.

I'd suspected that Trump's companies were built on fraud given everything I see about him and his refusal to show his tax returns until they were forced out of him.

This article proves that facts / hard evidence are completely irrelevent to fervent Trump supporters. How did Trump get inside their heads so firmly with his cult that they just won't listen to reason no matter what? There have been many populist cult leaders over the decades who could brainwash people in this way, but it's the first time that a president, and now ex-president, has the power and influence to do this to them - millions of them! It's like they've all been drinking the koolaid. Fucking scary.

Most attack ads against Donald Trump are convincing Republican primary voters to support the former president’s White House bid, a conservative political group has concluded.

The Win it Back PAC, a super political action committee that has spent millions of dollars to persuade GOP voters to support anybody but Trump, found that most of their tested messages were having the opposite of their intended effect, underscoring the challenge for the former president’s primary opponents to knock him off his perch as the Republican frontrunner.

“All attempts to undermine his conservative credentials on specific issues were ineffective,” Win It Back PAC President David McIntosh said in a memo to donors this week after testing 40 different lines of attack. “This includes ads that primarily feature video of him saying liberal or stupid comments from his own mouth.”

As a result, the super PAC — which has spent $4 million in anti-Trump ads in Iowa and another $1.7 million in South Carolina — will pause further spending until another candidate can consolidate the anti-Trump vote.

Nice one, Judge Chutkan: let Trump hang himself.

Donald Trump's judge Tanya Chutkan has scheduled a hearing to decide on the Justice Department's request to impose a gag order on former President Donald Trump to prevent him from making comments about the case that could prejudice the proceedings – but she may intentionally have left the former president enough rope to hang himself, according a legal expert.

The judge has scheduled the hearing for October 16, leaving more than two weeks before she rules.

That may have been an intentional decision, suggested former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance on X — perhaps she is testing the former president, and see what he does between now and then.

"Looks like she's giving Trump enough time to either conform his behavior or provide an airtight justification for imposing restrictions on him," wrote Vance.

What planet is he on? :ROFLMAO: Looks like this is the best defence he's got and therefore so going down for it.

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump is asking a federal judge to dismiss criminal charges against him based on his actions leading up to his Jan. 6, 2021, coup attempt because, as president, that coup attempt should be considered part of his presidential duties.

Trump lawyers Todd Blanche and John Lauro, in Thursday’s 52-page filing to U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, attempted to minimize Trump’s actions leading up to the violent assault on the Capitol that day and that, regardless, the law allowed Trump to act based on his belief that the election had been stolen from him.

“The indictment is based entirely on alleged actions within the heartland of President Trump’s official duties, or at the very least, within the ‘outer perimeter’ of his official duties,” Blanche and Lauro wrote. “As President Trump is absolutely immune from criminal prosecution for such acts, the court should dismiss the indictment.”

So, Tump has no respect for his deluded MAGA followers and mocks them in private? Who knew?

Former Vice President Mike Pence’s homeland security adviser Olivia Troye has claimed that former President Donald Trump used to mock his “Make America Great Again” followers behind closed doors.

“I think he has done a great job of sort of marketing himself as the champion for all of these people who are behind him in this movement,” she continued. “But, like, we’ve sat in these meetings. What is so frustrating and angering to me is he has nothing in common with any of his supporters and I detest the way he speaks about them.”

The way he spoke “was so disparaging to them,” she described.

It looks like the law is gonna have the last laugh though. It's about time it caught up with him.

That's pretty disgusting to hear that Trump would make fun of his constituents that support him no matter what.

A nice short and sweet article about an important loss for Trump. It's so short, that I've quoted it in its entirety and yes, it's badly written as one huge paragraph.

May Trump be disqualified from running in every state and the threat of another Trump presidency removed once and for all.

A Colorado district judge has handed Donald Trump another loss, denying his bid to dismiss a lawsuit that would remove his name from the presidential primary ballot in Colorado for violating the 14th Amendment. The lawsuit was filed by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington on behalf of a group of Republican and unaffiliated voters. It argues that Trump’s incitement of the Capitol riot should disqualify him from office under the 14th Amendment, which states that if a candidate has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof,” they can’t be elected. Trump’s legal team countered that that would violate the First Amendment. In her ruling, Judge Sarah Wallace wrote, “It is to the benefit of the general public that, regardless of political affiliation, only constitutionally qualified candidates are placed on the ballot.” A trial is scheduled to start on October 30.

This will be interesting to watch to see if other states follow suit.

I'm not sure if attempting to troll Trump by joining his Truth Social network is such a smart idea by Biden or not. The fact that Trump hasn't banned Biden yet after several posts, suggests to me that they might actually be helping Trump by drawing even more attention to him. This guy loves attention, seemingly any sort of attention. Let's see how this goes.

Although the campaign plans to use its new Truth Social presence to combat misinformation, there’s another reason the campaign signed up. It admitted on X, formerly Twitter, that it joined Trump’s social network site “mostly because we thought it would be very funny.”

The first post from @BidenHQ read: “Well. Let’s see how this goes. Converts welcome!”

Biden’s campaign has already made several posts, some which feature Republican politicians such as Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.), former UN ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz criticizing or disagreeing with Trump.

“We will be leveraging the fact that Republicans can sometimes be our best messengers,” a campaign official told Fox News.

@Mars @Tiffany Do you think this is a good or bad idea by Biden?

Biden's campaign joining TS will for sure bring more attention to TS because "everyone" will want to see and be part of the cat fights as Biden's campaign attempts to combat misinformation. Let's see what rules the Biden's posts break and how long it will take for them to get banned....maybe not, who knows? Maybe there will be some spirited conversations? This all will definitely be a highlight on TS to watch by all.

The rats are fleeing the sinking ship. This might start a domino effect to sink Trump quickly.

Honig said the possibility that Powell could rat out Trump in the Georgia racketeering case, and in special counsel Jack Smith’s federal election interference case, is potentially “devastating” for the 2024 Republican front-runner.

Powell had been one of Trump’s most loyal enablers, Honig said, and she provided legal advice that Trump relied on in his attempt to manipulate the election results.

“This is a major breakthrough for prosecutors, potentially a devastating development for Donald Trump, because what’s gonna happen now is Sidney Powell is going to testify for prosecutors in Georgia, and presumably she’ll also be prepared to testify for Jack Smith in his federal case in Washington, D.C.,” said Honig, a former prosecutor.

It would seem that all of the people in this indictment that worked for Trump are going admit guilt and not fall on the sword for Trump. It's funny how the threat of jail time affects one's true stand.

In the end, he only got a 5 grand fine, with a "stern" warning not to do it again, or else. So lame as he won't even feel that money. At least make it 100 grand, which would have been significant for Trump.

The judge has just shown Trump that he's gutless, so Trump is gonna take full advantage of that now, you wait and see. Let's hope that finally gets him into real trouble when he crosses that red line far enough.

"I will now allow the defendant to explain why this should not end up with serious sanctions or I could possibly imprison him."
Mr Trump's lawyer, Christopher Kise, apologised on his client's behalf and said it was an "inadvertent" mistake because while the post was deleted from social media, aides forgot to remove it from the campaign website.
Later in the day, Judge Engoron ruled that Mr Trump pay a fine given that "the violation was inadvertent, and given that it is a first time violation".

Inadvertent my ass and the judge bought it ffs. Let's hope he's not such a mug the second time:

"Make no mistake: future violations, whether intentional or unintentional, will subject the violator to far more severe sanctions, which may include, but are not limited to, steeper financial penalties, holding Donald Trump in contempt of court, and possibly imprisoning him," Judge Engoron said in his ruling.

It's really not going well for Trump. Neutralising Trump at source is the best way to stop him once and for all. His impotent rage as the election takes place without his name in the running would be really funny to see.

More rats leaving the sinking ship. The law is prevailing people!

Donald Trump’s chances of being convicted in the federal 2020 election subversion case may have increased after his top election lawyer took a plea deal in the 2020 election case in Fulton county and admitted to a felony that the effort to create fake slates of electors was fraudulent.

The immediate consequence of Kenneth Chesebro’s plea deal is that he could incriminate the former president in Georgia, given one of his plea conditions involved testifying truthfully against other defendants.

But Chesebro could also separately incriminate Trump in the federal criminal case in Washington, should the special counsel Jack Smith use his new admission as evidence that Trump conspired to defraud the United States in trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
