Almost everyday there's some new health related article worth talking about. :)

Here, a health expert "debunks" vitamin supplements as a waste of time, but are they? I suspect that the answer is somewhere in the middle, ie they can help in some situations where there's a chronic shortage of a particular vitamin perhaps, eg vitamin D for people who don't get enough sunlight. See what you think.

Spector specialises in guts, not health. I've read from nootropics specialists that the majority of people don't have nearly high enough levels of vitamins in general, I disagree though if that's his only point.

I agree, I was giving my Beloved Thor, my German Short Hair Pointer that I rescued in 2018 from the street, flaxseed oil supplement (the same 1s I take) in 2019, and it stopped his seizures from 2021 to 2023. He passed from liver failure 1/9/23, 15 days before his 9th birthday (Born 1/24/2014). It still hurts.

You saved a dog from the street?! Legend. 😎😎

And on the other hand I'm so sorry for your loss. Been there several times now with our cats and it fades, but never leaves you.

Tagging @Tiffany as she's a massive dog and general animal lover and has three if I remember correctly.

Thor was my Blessing in 2018. I have Honored Him by getting Thunder on 2/9/23, He is 8 months old now, born 10/23/22. Just gave me a tongue bath lol

Thoughts on supplements....if I take Vitamin D and my Vitamin D level stays in the range or above required, then my supplement is working for me, therefore, supplements work. The only caveat is not over dosing on supplements or taking risky supplements.

@eidairman1 Welcome to NZ. :) So sorry about your loss of Thor. I know the pain of that loss and for me it never goes away, but my current dog pack is pretty awesome. Natural supplements for dogs can be amazing. I have Pomeranian's with collapsed trachea's and the ONLY supplement that keeps them comfortable and not drugged is Nuleaf CBD Oil for pets (brand name dropping is necessary because this CBD oil is made differently). I've lost beloved Pomeranian's in the past from collapsed trachea's and they were on different med's including cough syrups with codeine. The codeine didn't allow them to have a life as they were too drugged but the CBD oil allows my dogs to be comfortable without symptoms, as well as treating the issue.

I'm glad you have Thunder in your life to honor Thor. ❤️

Thank you. Thunder is on some pretty good mix of puppy food with adult raw fish for different protein sources and good grains.

Tiffs, eidy, I tell you what dogs love and is very healthy: tripe. Stinks to high heaven though. 🤮

I remember when I lived at home and my parents started feeding their dog this awful food. I kicked up such a stink (pun, sorry) about it, that they eventually topped using it. Life was so much better after that.

Well the fish isnt nearly as pungant and comes in the adult food. It helps them to avoid certain allergies

@Retro you're Tripe story is pretty funny. Fish in the house is bad enough, super pungent fish would be hard to live with.

@eidairman1 I've been using organic dry and wet food for my dogs. They would rather have table food. It's a battle in my house to monitor and minimize the delivery of said table food. It is always is always meat though.

Oh yeah, I've seen that. Bloody typical, bless 'em. ❤️
My dogs are really good beggars too. They've perfected the begging look and they are so happy when they win. :)
Well Flaxseed oil is the best alternative to fish oil, also doesnt have the smell either.
I'll have to check out flaxseed oil. My pom's shed. Maybe more essential oils would help?

It always cracks me up how animals are completely and totally shameless beggars lol. Cats and dogs equally.

Yeah, no shame....they get this look that makes you melt....I have to be the bad guy in the house though and tell the humans to not give them so much from the table. I'm sure I'm giving you all a terrible vision of our dinner table manners right now.:ROFLMAO:

I can only imagine the necessity for precautions. ;) I will small dose first to test. My pom's have sensitive tummies. 😶‍🌫️

Thank you for the thought of caution!
