Why community forums like this one are still relevant

It's almost like Flarum removed all of the surrounding posting noise and helped the member just get to the point....somewhat basic like someone would post a reply on a WP page.

That's their overarching goal, yes. But I think they may have gone too far - the core doesn't even have attachments. That makes Flarum the only platform I've seen in *years* that didn't support attachments in one fashion or another out of the box.

@Arantor that certainly looks different to a traditional forum and not in a way that I'd especially like, either. It reminds me a bit of Gmail and its tag system rather than folders, which I prefer.

Unfortunately that style is the modern design ethos - Discourse and NodeBB were pushing for that sense/style/aesthetic from their respective launches in the mid 2010s and Vanilla's been pushing it longer I believe.

I'm not a fan of it either but I can see why it would appeal to a different demographic/audience who were brought up on some of the social networks first.
