Videos currently won't play, just started happening a few minutes ago, just sitting there with the spinning roundel and eventually timing out with the error below. Funny thing is, that for logged out users, or those without a subscription, the ads continue to play just fine, but the videos then fail. Heartwarming to see that they've got their priorities right, isn't it?

Did some basic troubleshooting and it's definitely YT, not my PC or YT account. We just have to sit tight and wait while YT tech support hits the panic button to fix it. And believe me, they're highly stressed right now...

Crap. It would have been funny to see them sweating for some more.
Indeed, it would have been funny as hell to see them making headlines on the maintream news. You'd also see everyone getting up in arms in forums up and down the internet moaning that they can't watch their videos. :ROFLMAO:

Yes, the ads must be on a different server, can't see any other reason for this. Was nice to get a sarcastic dig in, though. ;)

I feel quite pleased that the problem happened when I was watching YT too, so I know the exact moment that it went tits up. So terribly nerdy, lol.

It actually broke down in phases as at first embeds wouldn't work, but on YT they did, then they stopped playing, sometimes with just the spinning roundel and other times having a single frame flash erratically. Refreshing the browser didn't help and neither did using another one and being logged out.

You just know that when this happens to something as high profile as them, that tech support is having a real "oh shit!" moment lol.
