Customer Service - A thing of the past

I lament the service we took for granted of days gone by.

Recently in UK I bought a digital movie from Amazon, mine to keep, not rented.

On a visit to US it has disappeared from my profile.

Now to my issue, thinking there may have been a regional issue I sent a message to Amazon asking simply, can
a digital movie bought in UK be viewed in US - binary answer, yes or no.

They replied saying they understood my concern and sent me a link.

I responded saying it was a yes of no answer and I didn't need to trawl through links in an attempt to find information.

Reply was that they understood my frustration and they sent me a link giving tips for downloading titles.

Getting irritated now I replied I did not need a link for downloading, merely a yes/no answer to if this has restrictions in US.

Reply was apologies, they supplied me with a link to 'find out more'.

I am pondering a further reply.

Oh ffs, they've gone Full Moron again. I've had that too and it was impossible to get anything meaningful from them. The joys of outsourcing the customer service center.

Incidentally, did you try any of the links in the end? Could you post one here, perhaps?

I'm sorry you are going through that! That is a very annoying issue, now made complex because you can't get to a real human to get it sorted out. We have a love-hate of Amazon in my household. Most of the time, it goes well, but when it goes bad, it's just bad. Recently, some cookies were ordered and when they arrived my dd realized they were expired a year ago, but after she took a bite and the cookie tasted awful. We cannot get a refund for this item. For the $10 I spent and the time it would take to get to a real person, on this one, I had to let it go. Time is money, and my time wasn't worth on this, but I'm still bitter about it.

I hope you find you still have your movie and get some resolve on your issue! 🤞

Surprised that they didn't refund due to year expiry. That effectively could have been a health issue.

I'll query small amounts in supermarkets out of principle but appreciate sometimes not worth the time spent.

Agreed, that this could have been a health issue. Amazon or the seller, not sure who sets this up, had this item set as "no refunds"....so when I started the return process, I got the message, "this item is non-returnable". I tried to go further and get to an Amazon rep, but I was fighting their system and really just gave up after 15 minutes of frustration.

Sorry to hear about that, Tiffs. It's clear that this seller is abusing Amazon's appalling customer service to flog illegal out of date crap, knowing their customers marks won't be able to do anything about it. If you've not left a review yet, I suggest that you leave a scathing one star review. Heck, say it gave you and others food poisoning. It's no more dishonest than what they did to you and could have possibly happened had you eaten more of them.

This is exactly why I try not to buy from Marketplace sellers if at all possible. Buy it off Amazon, log a problem and you usually get an instant refund, no questions asked. I've had some truly amazing, above and beyond service, on items that I bought directly off them which then had a problem.

Sometimes they need a nudge, recently I had two items incorrectly delivered to me, as they were both local I hand delivered both.

Contacted Amazon, initially they told me to dispose of or keep items (obviously low value), I then told them I had delivered items. They were going to leave it at that at which point I reminded them I had saved them money by delivering the items.

I actually had to suggest, perhaps a voucher might be appropriate and further emphasised I had delivered their parcels for them.

Got a voucher in the end.

Yeah, I've gotten the odd voucher too - it really pays to ask. I'd ordered something that was scheduled for next day delivery, guaranteed. After waiting in all day, I got some lame excuse why they couldn't deliver it that day, but I got it the next day just fine. Called them up about it and asked for compensation at which point they gave me a voucher worth a fiver. Not bad for a couple of minutes of my time and a free call. Also, it put on the system that the customer complained when they weren't up to scratch.

Thanks for your advice, both of you! I'll take a look of whom I'm ordering from and make sure it's not the marketplace. Frankly, I don't even know where stuff coming from anyway.🤷‍♀️

They get it from the Twilight Zone where the Oompa Loompas are forced to work for bitcoins which they then can't exchange as the value goes down immediately upon receipt.

Customer service reps from Amazon are actually trained baboons who have only been trained to hit the "here's a link" button. On a good note, at least the baboons are not having to scrounge around for food as they are fed regularly some year old cookies which they baked themselves. ;) Need a link?

The process of getting a doctor in the UK is affected by this passively. I kind of believe we're above needing to be grateful for government gateway: at least each health service in west london provides a different excuse why they can't provide any service, with the ones in my area outright striking at this time (so kind of difficult if you're old and don't use the net). If it was possible to pay the companies for baboons they'd hire them lol.
