All of those scenes were really great when he was in Sheldon's imagination and real life, yes, yes, yes ....also laughed when Professor Proton was more interested in Penny rather than the guys in one scene when Penny came over to Sheldon and Leonard's apartment.

This triple clip has reminded me just how wickedly funny and on-point this political comedy / satire was. Apparently, they used to base these episodes on real events of the time when the tory government was in power with Margaret Thatcher as prime minister, so it was extremely topical. Amazing how much of that still holds today.

These clips have the insufferably wily and smug Sir Humphrey coming unstuck which is just priceless!

Alright, Tiffany, I won't tease you any longer, and will explain what is wrong:

Those wires aren't insulated. They're just bare. Now, if those wires stay in that exact position then in theory nothing happens. But wires being that exposed plus the flimsiness of it is just asking for trouble, with the slightest movement resulting in short circuiting as a very real possibility.
Below an example of how it should be done:



See the difference? The wires still have their insulation, only the very ends are connected to the pins. And it all seems very secured.

Thanks @Hitcore for explaining this to me. Electrical stuff is not in my wheelhouse but I can see now how the copper wire is not insulated as it should be shown in your recent picture. Is that a European type plug?

Yes it is, Tiffany. Though there are some varieties within Europe, but most are interchangeable, earth/ground positioning aside. Here's an overview:



The one you see with the little German flag is the most common one in Europe, that type is called Schuko. Where I am originally from (The Netherlands) we have the same as the Germans. But now that I am living in Denmark most of my wall sockets are very happy.
I have installed both the the Schuko and the Happy type in my house, because I own devices from both these places.

In my opinion the British type is the best one. It's almost over-engineered. Each plug has its own fuse, and they are so incredibly sturdy, that stepping on them is about the same as stepping on a hundred pieces of Lego.
In World War 2 the British had a shortage of land mines, so they secured the coast by laying their plugs all over the beaches, prongs up.

Another good thing to know is that the standard voltage in the US is 120V at 60Hz, while in most of Europe the standard voltage is 230V at 50Hz.

If you're traveling between these regions, you need to check if your device supports dual voltage (e.g., "100-240V, 50/60Hz" on the label).

• If your device supports dual voltage, you only need a plug adapter to fit the outlet shape.
• If your device only supports one voltage, you'll need a voltage converter to safely use it.

Many modern electronics (like phone chargers and laptops) are dual voltage, but appliances like hairdryers and curling irons may not be. Always check before plugging in!
